Before your appointment
Help us give you your best crown
Arriving prepared means less time spent on prep and more time spent on the style itself.
- Come with hair freshly washed and fully dried
- Hair should be properly detangled and blow-dried where needed
- Prepare according to the service you booked — ask if you're unsure
- Bring any required extensions or accessories
- Bring your inspiration photo, even if it's just a screenshot
- Eat beforehand and bring a drink for longer styles
Aftercare
Your crown doesn't stop here
Beautiful braids deserve beautiful maintenance.
Nighttime care
Wrap or bonnet every night. It's the single biggest thing standing between week one and week six.
Scalp care
Keep the scalp clean and comfortable with light oil applied to the scalp itself, not the braids.
Moisture
A light leave-in mist a few times a week keeps hair from drying out underneath the style.
Frizz control
Mousse and a quick set brings the roots back to looking freshly done.
Washing your braids
Diluted shampoo, section by section, no scrubbing. Dry thoroughly so the roots don't hold damp.
Knowing when it's time
Most styles are ready to come down at six to eight weeks. Taking them out on time protects your hair.

Natural blacks and browns, honey and caramel blends, ombré and bold colours. Send your reference photo and we'll match it.
It depends on size and length — smaller braids and longer lengths take longer. You'll be given a realistic time estimate when your appointment is confirmed.
Arrive with clean, dry, detangled hair. The full list is on the Your Crown page.
Children are welcome, and we braid their hair too. Please mention it when booking so the time is planned properly.
Message us as soon as you know. Late arrivals may need to be shortened or rescheduled so the next client isn't affected.

With good maintenance, most protective styles look great for six to eight weeks.
